Creating Content For My Article About Content Creation

Within the coming week, I will be posting my first medium.com article, entitled “How AI is Affecting Content Creation.” And since the article is about content, what better way to spread the word than with social media content creation!

In preparing to publish the article, I’m also thinking about how to promote it on my social media channels. I’ve taken the time to prepare some posts to post across three different platforms: Instagram, Facebook, and X/Twitter.

A QUICK NOTE ON PICTURES…

I like to use pictures in my graphics, so I head to pexels.com – one of my favorite websites for no attribution required stock photography – and find this interesting one.

The flower is being held by the robot and the human. It could also be that one is giving the flower to the other, but it isn’t clear who is doing the giving. Regardless, creativity is now being “shared” by AI and humans, connecting the image to my article. I decide the picture is great, and use it in my graphics.

When using stock photography, make sure you can find a way to connect the image you chose to what you’re communicating. The drawback in not taking your own photos is that stock photos are produced with a variety of different contexts in mind, and sometimes, you will not find exactly what you’re looking for (at least, without paying).

INSTAGRAM

Caption: Working hard or hardly working? 🤷‍♂️ I just released my first-ever medium.com article on how AI is affecting content creation. AI can generate text and images for us, potentially limiting the use of our creativity. Head to the link in my bio to read about how this new technology is impacting the social media space. #AI #ContentCreation #Creativity

Instagram is more fun and creative, so using a post with more graphic elements and an emoji in the caption suits this platform. Users scrolling the platform want something valuable, but still fun. They are not in the mood for formalities. Despite the addition of different dimensions a couple years back, according to Dash Hudson, the ideal size for an Instagram picture is still the square. I made my graphic in Adobe Illustrator with a 1080 x 1080 pixel size.

X/TWITTER

To be completely honest, I think X/Twitter is almost dead. However, it still has a good amount of users and a strong influence in society, making it an important platform to use and understand. Most X users are scrolling for news and updates. My article, being about AI, is very timely. My main goal is to direct users to click on the link to read the piece, and a short blurb with a buzzword should do it. I also make the graphic into 1600 x 900 pixels, which is ideal for the platform according to Sked Social.

AI is now creating stuff for us.

The name of the social media game is time, an asset we don’t have much of to begin with.

Within moments, AI can generate text, images, and (now) video from human prompts.

It begs the question: is AI affecting how we create content?

I write about this exact question in my now medium.com piece.

A couple weeks ago, I wrote a post on this exact blog about how I’m tired of the formal language used on LinkedIn. And yet, I have learned personally that posts like these – with broken down sentences written like a “mini-article” in and of itself-  are effective, and so I write the copy as such.

I decided to keep the image as is, but just cropped it to the best size for LinkedIn (which, according to Hootsuite, is 1200 x 628 pixels). You might be wondering why, and it is because I have found in my own feed that most users are posting photos, unless they are sharing carousel posts or ads that require a graphic element. I have also shared articles from this blog on LinkedIn with just the cover photo.
