I’m one of those people who look at empty space on their calendar and think, “what can I do to fill this up?” as if they do not have a lot of things going on in their life already.
When I saw Notion listed as one of the recommendations for project management software, I knew I had to give it a try. Being a content creator myself, I had seen multiple posts over the past year of people using the program and telling their followers to use it as well. Having been swayed by these posts, I gave Notion a shot.
So far, I am fairly impressed. Although I still have a lot of learning curves to get over, the application is well-designed and highly effective in organizing tasks and projects; more so than my previous experience with Trello.

In starting with Notion, I decided to create a page to organize my work and assignments for my graduate course. The Kanban approach to project management is one that I have found to be truly helpful. In this project management application, I am able to list my tasks and visualize each stage of progress. I have also started to use the kanban approach for my overall academic assignments, alongside management of a student organization.
Something I am having a minor difficulty with currently is adding sub-categories to tasks which I have added onto my board. The method in which I am approaching this so far is to add a to-do section inside the task itself. I am also looking to make the board more visual, which I am aware is an option, but still have yet to figure out.

I have learned, however, that Notion also supports integration of documents and other media. This will be especially helpful in organizing different documents for my graduate course, as I progress through assignments and other tasks which I need to complete.
Notion runs primarily on templates you can use on its pages. I now know why one person I saw on social media in particular was encouraging the sale of Notion templates. For those who use the project management program, the templates are a huge help in staying organized.
With the multitude of things going on in my life, I am very happy to start using a project management system. The opportunity to visualize everything in an organized and coherent way will allow me to be more effective in how I spend my time.
Indeed, these efforts have proven effective in my life already, as my board reminded me to complete this blog post.
